butterfly laughter

Butterfly Laughter by Katherine Mansfield
In the middle of our porridge plates
There was a blue butterfly painted
And each morning we tried who should reach the
butterfly first.
Then the Grandmother said: "Do not eat the poor
butterfly."
That made us laugh.
Always she said it and always it started us laughing.
It seemed such a sweet little joke.
I was certain that one fine morning
The butterfly would fly out of our plates,
Laughing the teeniest laugh in the world,
And perch on the Grandmother's lap.
This is my favorite watercolor painting so far. I only have three by the way. Hahaha ^^

when i was free

It was a beautiful summery day with nothing to do. I was in my inner peace mode and decided to walk to the beach. But upon walking out the front door, I went back up to my room and took a brush, my watercolor set, a sheet of watercolor paper and a nice cozy little blanket. This was one of my spontaneous moments.
Here's a fact: there's actually a public beach behind the lot across our lot. So I crossed the road, turned to the left corner and walked straight to the sunset. . .by myself. Feeling so. . .free. Not lonely, but free. I was so genuinely happy. I thank God for giving me the chance to feel that and I hope you have too.
I would actually like to feel that way while painting each of these 27 artworks. It may not have been that good of a painting but there was nothing I would trade for that feeling of happiness.

This was the view in the public beach across my home. Too bad it's an unfinished work. Plus, the picture quality isn't that good. ^^

Every artist was first an amatuer.

Finally. I've been dreaming about making a blog like this one since. ..yesterday. aw. hahaha. since I saw the film Julie and Julia. Now, I have the opportunity because a blog is required for our class. It's so convenient really, to do what you love to do and get grades for it. Thanks Ma'am! hahaha.
Just to make things clear, the main reason why I created this blog is for me to enhance whatever painting skills I have. Ooor to find out if I do have those skillz. Soon when I accomplish this, if I feel like it, I'll continue on with oil painting and charcoal sketching but for now, the medium I'll be using is watercolor cause it's easy and affordable and as I've mention, I have TWENTY SEVEN watercolor paintings to paint. So I have this 107-day challenge to motivate me and if my calculations are correct, I have approximately 3 days to finish each painting. Wish me luck! ^-^
